ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians and knowledge holders of the land, The Gadigal of the Eora Nation, and thank them for their ongoing commitment and care for the Country that we live and work on. We would also like to extend our acknowledgement to Elders past, present, and emerging. We feel very honoured to be within such a treasured part of the world, and therefore strive to build a stronger connection with our surroundings.
Australia always has and always will be, Aboriginal Land.

How to: compost

What is Compost?

Compost is one of the best things you can do in your garden. By composting your food scraps, grass and garden pieces, you can get sources that make food, plants and soil better. Place a compost bin in your garden. You don’t need to dig the soil. Unless the soil needs to be improved, the compost can be laid of the top. You can buy the compost bin or make your own.

How to build a layered compost heap

1. Build your compost in the layers (3-10cm).

2. Alternate high nitrogen (food scraps, manure, grass clipping, soft prunnings) and low nitrogen (dry leaves, coarse prunnings) layers. Three buckets of low nitrogen to one bucket of high nitrogen.

3. Use a diversity of materials.
