ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians and knowledge holders of the land, The Gadigal of the Eora Nation, and thank them for their ongoing commitment and care for the Country that we live and work on. We would also like to extend our acknowledgement to Elders past, present, and emerging. We feel very honoured to be within such a treasured part of the world, and therefore strive to build a stronger connection with our surroundings.
Australia always has and always will be, Aboriginal Land.

THE CITY OF SYDNEY WANTS Your feedback on all-electric new development

The City of Sydney has prepared a discussion paper to gather feedback on the future of gas in new developments, focusing on electrification. This supports its goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2035, promote healthier homes and tackle cost-of-living challenges.

Electrification means using all-electric systems instead of gas for heating, cooking, and other energy needs. The paper looks at the challenges and benefits of having gas free, all-electric new developments.

The City is exploring several approaches to move towards electrification and wants to know which approach is preferred, if certain industries should be exempt and if there are any challenges to overcome that haven’t been considered in the discussion paper.

Consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 5 May 2025
